What are the requirements to be a real estate broker?
- Personally, a real estate broker has to present a neat and convincing image to their clients. It is very important that you know how to dress appropriately. Brokers hold a lot of meetings with agents and clients and it always helps to dress smartly.
- A good impression is always a good start. Brokers who establish rapport in a shortest amount of time is known to be enthusiastic, has a good judgment and a pleasant character in general. They are keener to sealing numerous deals in a week’s or month’s time.
- The minimum requirement is at least a high school diploma or a GED.
- Finish an accredited training program in real estate within your state. These trainings are available in real estate schools, vocational schools or community colleges.
- A bachelor’s degree in fields like business, economics and law are equally helpful but would still require you to have a more focused education in real estate for an average of 90 training hours
Licensure & Experience
- In the US, real estate brokers are required to be licensed. To become eligible, you would need to present documentation that you have previous training and background in real estate. Most states require at least 1-3 years experience as a real estate agent. However, if you have a bachelor’s degree in real estate, you are free to take the licensure exam without work experience.
