What Does A Yoga Instructor Do?
A yoga instructor is a trained professional in practicing yoga. They work closely with clients and help them feel physically and mentally good. There are numerous types of yoga that a client can choose from. The most common ones that are being practiced in the US are Ashtanga, Bikram, Hatha and Kundalini. All types of yoga have one particular goal and that is total wellness.
Yoga instructors may teach in studios, ashrams or in private homes. This is the client’s choice. The only requirement is that the place needs to be peaceful or with less distraction. Practicing yoga has been known to improve an individual’s outlook in life and is a huge contributor in relieving stress.
Most yoga classes are classified by levels. A beginner’s class focuses on how to perform basic yoga positions called “Asanas”. The yoga instructor makes sure that you are able to follow without getting hurt. Yoga positions require flexibility and a lot of stretching. Without warm-up or training, it can be very painful. Clients who have specific physical conditions can ask the yoga instructor to modify the exercises for them. Advanced classes focus on more difficult positions combined with chanting and deep meditation.
Yoga instructors are also trained to give lectures about personal development, diet and other health issues. This is why some yoga studios are called “Total Wellness” centers. Yoga is a lifelong learning process. It is not enough to just learn the positions and not learn to connect with yourself. Yoga is the art of improving the physical and inner wellness of a human being. Yoga instructors can help you in the process.
